Candi, this makes me cry too. I'm so sorry you have to go through such a terrible experience. You are certainly not undone and not guilty, not in the least.
I know, this is easy said. I think all of us, who love animals, would have such feelings and thoughts. I know this from when cats of mine died or disappeared. I couldn't stop thinking, if I hade made a mistake, although I knew I had not. It hurts so much. Do you think there is no chance to find Little Yoda again?
Bob is so right, such people ....... I'm tempted to use even other words!

Thank you, Bob & Christina -- Come to find out hat guy lives in a rural area surrounded by lots of open land full of coyotes & the occasional mountain lion ... Did his house honestly have a fence ??? Even if poor Little Yoda managed to survive on his own for a while, I consider it quite unlikely that he will ever turn up alive
And although I understand that "hindsight is always 20/20" and the "cudda/shudda/wudda" self-blame syndrome is just a one way ticket to the mental asylum, still, my head knows this BUT my HEART continues to accuse Me of Missing all the "red flags".
Anyway, please say a prayer that Little Yoda does NOT suffer !!!
Dear Candi, I'm feeling so much with you. and I certainly don't blame you for the "self-blame-syndrom".
I've had this myself too often, and I know we are helpless against this. Yes, the head knows or seems to know better, but the heart reacts differently. I'm so sorry I cannot help you with words. And from here of course I can not help with actions.
I've been reproached so often for searching or crying too long. But whom can decide for how long we are "allowed" to cry, mourn, hope? There exists no instance who has the right to judge this. If you have the slightest chance to find this animal again, try! If you need to cry - cry -cry!
I myself have at the moment problems with the health of one of my dogs. I will not overwhelm you now with the problems I have with some Vets etc. I just mention this to tell you, I understand your feelings and reactions completely.
