Is there a human way to modify a puppy sleeping schedule.
My new puppy is the most active at night, he will play during the day but the he gives me is around 8 or 9 pm.
Mid day would be much better for me. It is also a bit hot during the day at the moment. So Lucifer just seem to enjoy sleeping in the warm sun.
I had the same problem in the beginning. During the very hot season they were lying in the shadow like dead flies. Later in the evening they had lazed enough and then had their crazy 15 to 30 min. Then it was difficult to train because of this.
I had to allow them to be crazy for a while in order to let them waste some of their excesso of energy (within certain rules of course) and then begin the training. This worked well.
I also make in the very early morning - before the sun rises - either walks or - and trainig.
Like this I could create a quite regular rhythm. They know as if they had a watch inside (I guess they have) which tells them when comes what. I meanwhile also stick to this during the cooler months, because I don't want to break the rhythm abruptly. I adapt it every year gradually to the natural day - night times.
This doesn't mean, that we cannot insert some for them unexpected short training sessions in between. (Randomly, Bob!)It is then a welcome surprise for them.
Of course, Ariane, I know, this is just my personal experience and I don't know if it will be of some help for you. It all depends on your own structure of the day. I'm retired and so it is certainly much easier to divide my day.
