I can't seem to find toys that my puppy (almost 1 yo) loves.
He has ONE ball that he is crazy for but it is hard to get him to drop it. He will not play with any other ball. I even went out and got the same ball as the one he loves but he will not play with the new one.
I made the 2 same ball sleep together in a air tight container for a few days. He still will only play with the old one.
Same goes for the tug, he has one that he will play with but he ignore the other. Most toys he can't care for and squeaker are no fun.
He has a crazy food drive but I would like to play more with him.
I also hide all the fun toys and try to only have one less/no fun toy but that just turn him off. I can also leave all the toys out, he will not touch any until I start to engage with him.
he does a ok retrieve over a very short distance but it is work not play in his attitude.
I am looking for a solution when the good toy die. They are old and near the end of their life. They used to be my previous dog toys and got a lot of play over 5 or 6 years.
He bring the toy back and nudge me with it but the drop is not good (just with the good toys other stuff get dropped pretty fast)
I must fully aggree about M.E's vídeos. I've learned the retrieve from him and also from Forrest's course Relation Ship Games. Socks and Bruxinha are crazy about retrieving. Slippie only goes to touch the toy with her nose. She never picks anything up (except food of course). I been following Michael's DVD to the point, where he shows how to open the mouth of a dog, put a tug into it and make her hold that thing. She allows me putting it in without problem, but doesn't want to hold it. We are training this since a very lpng time already in very short sessions, but we're completly stuck. Should I better leave her in peace with that exercise and accept that she's not interested at all in it?
