Greta, now six months, had her first exposure to fireworks last night (happy belated Independence Day to all )
I was really happily surprised that aside from the first one or two "bangs", it didn't seem to really phase her at all. Not sure if this is good breeding, or her feeling secure with her people, or just her personality, but I am thankful.
Thanks to the advice from the ME puppy training videos, I made sure to give her plenty of good treats every time there was a loud/close one until she ignored them completely. I also found it interesting that our senior dog, Dixon, seemed less concerned about them around Greta than he has been in the past. He also got some treats when he ventured outside to join us on his own.
On a related note, I was sorry to see all of the missing dogs reported on NextDoor this morning. I just don't get why people don't bring their pets inside when they know they are scared of loud noises. Sad yet recurring theme in our city.

Good girl, Greta! I'm sure her calmness was a combination of all four of the factors you listed above.
