Carolyn, if it is possible for you please drope a line to let us know that you're ok. Hopefully better than only ok. How heavy was your region affected?
Many of us are very concerned as we don't hear from you. I do hope the silence is only due to that you perhaps have not read about our worries yet.

Hey all- sorry I haven't visited the board in a week or so; I really appreciate the thoughts and concern!
We were extremely lucky in San Antonio- unfortunately to the detriment of Houston. I learned that there is a "dirty" side and a ... clean? side to hurricanes and because they always turn counter-clockwise in our hemisphere and because of our location we (SA) tend to get the not-so-bad side. Strong gusts and a little rain (+/- 2") on my side of town was practically nothing. The folks an hour east / north-east of us had much more, including some river flooding.
My husband has some extended family in the Houston area and they all made it out ok- either to a shelter or here to SA.
Now our thoughts are with the folks in Florida and that extended area. One of our local NBA heroes seems to have a good plan that I have supported: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/tim-duncan-hurricane-irma-us-virgin-islands/ . We're also looking for a stand-out Florida group to send a little support to if anyone has knowledge of one!
Hey, Carolyn! It's great to hear from you, and I'm so happy that you and your family members, including in Houston, are all safe. I knew that your location in San Antonio hadn't received the brunt of the hurricane, but I had seen reports on the TV that your area might still be subject to some brutal weather. I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Like you, I'm just heartbroken over the devastation in Florida, and now Irma is even battering adjacent states in the south. I have some family in St. Petersburg, who are all safe, and a good friend in northern Florida I'm trying to re-establish contact with.
Between Harvey and Irma, it's going to be a long road to recovery for our nation.
Hi Carolyn, such a relieve to hear you and your family are fine!
It must be a horrible tension to be in a shelter like they were in lots of regions in Texas and now in Florida without knowing what's happening at home, or being captured in one's own house without possibility to go outside, no food, no water, no power, no meds. and not knowing what's coming next.
I hope the next one, José, which is approaching will choose another way or at least not be so ravaging to any region.
