This was a spineless variety (no thorns)- they taste kind of like overcooked green beans IMO, lol. Still, the possibility of it not being safe for her was enough! You are right, a dog can't be so easily replaced.
Ytur/ well, i just thought it might me dangerous for people too. didn't want to make you concerned, I've never ever had the opportunity to eat cactusses until now. Sorry for making perhaps too much fuss about it;

Well... dog training fail, lol. Back to the crate and x-pen for now
Greta scratched the paint and paper off of a 10" dia. spot on the wall while I was away this morning. Nights were going well so for daytime we began transitioning her from the x-pen into the hall (around 4'x10') with all of the adjacent rooms' doors closed and a baby gate at the end so she could see/hear our other dog. I swing by at lunch to check on things and let her stretch her legs; been doing this for a week and a half with no problems until now.
Guess it could have been worse; at least I can fix drywall & paint. I have a feeling 4 days of rain and not as much running around time was the last straw.
It happens. Caterina chewed a head sized hole in my solid oak kitchen door going into the living room when I left her loose in the house when I went to work. The cats think it's the best thing since canned tuna.
Just take a step back and go from there. You won't know how far you can go until you run into problems.
