Even though my long hair GSD is a outside dog 24/7 I am faithful about his grooming and getting all his old undercoat out by fall. Still a very little bit in his lions mane but he's ready for winter.
High 50s last week and in the teens this week. go figure!
Built a new dog house reciently because he was having trouble climbing the three stairs when they were icy last year.
Steps lead into the garage where his dog house was built into the walls.
New house is double walled and insulation in the walls as the old one but now free standing and under the patio cover.
I decided a few days ago that the dogs were overdue for baths. My female left quite a handful of hair I had to clean out of the tub afterwards. She has always had the thickest coat of any Doberman I've ever known. The male only left about 1/10 as much as her. I can't complain, though. It's funny how many non-dog people are under the impression that short-coated dogs don't shed. Mine sure do, but it's not a double coat, and the short hairs that come out don't tend to clump together and float around the house. I feel for those of you with long- or double-coated dogs! But, yes, we do what we must because we love them.
