Has anyone out there ever used Colostrum to help their dog with any problem ? I have just finished reading an interesting article in "The Whole Dog Journal" on colostrum. Dr. Stephen Blake DVM from Ca claims that this product can help a long list of maladies, esp intestinal tract probs, immune disorders, and is a great topical healer.
I was wondering if this would help me. My 3 yr old female just will not stop eating her stool, and any other stool piles she might find from my other dogs. I have had dogs that eat their stool, but this girl is beyond belief. I have tried at least 15 remedies for stool eating. Nothing has worked. So, anyone out there who has used colostrum, please write me. Thanks, Lucy from Michigan
Have you tried giving an animal based digestive enzyme supplement? I was using plant based with Auster until the vet suggested animal based (pancreatin) and it has made a huge difference in her digestive health.

I agree with Lauren, digestive enzymes would be the thing to try. I have read that after an animal is past a day or two old the physiology of the digestive tract changes and can no longer absorb the colostrum...that's why it's so important for baby animals and humans to get colostrum as soon as possible after birth...the window of opportunity for it to be absorbed is small.
I have heard of people giving it to adult dogs and even taking it themselves and while I don't feel it is harmful, I don't think it is very beneficial...
