I wanted to say a huge thank you to Mr Sheldahl for the excellent seminar he performed 19-23 Aug in Stuttgart, Germany.
I had contacted Kevin in February to see "what it would take to get him here". I originally wanted him to teach for purely selfish reasons(why share)
I eventually sent out invites to the rest of the Army dog handlers in Germany. Unfortunately because of the severe high operational tempo we live with these days, very few could attend. Just meant more training for the few!!!
What can I say. The training was truly phenomenal!
I'd tell ya what we did, but you need to hire him to appreciate the experience. 4 days later, my rib cage still hurts from being dragged down the stairs during a forced extraction exercise!!! Kevin threatened to put the pictures on his site!?
I tried to get his return flight to the states cancelled, ya know, another week of training. But that didn't work out. We did enjoy(quite)a few dunkel weisse biers!
I truly had a great time. Our military personnel must be commended. They are working hard with less people to do the work than ever. They seem able to adjust because the US K-9 handlers are serious hard working people in Europe.
I do hope that I was able to leave them with some ideas that will help them in their missions around the world as they seem to become more and more complex.
Oh, and the dunkelweiss was great!
