Any suggestions on waterproof gloves for tracking in the rain? I have looked at LL bean and the neoprene gloves they carry are thicker than what I want. I know some of the various LE catalogs have neoprene tactical gloves that look to be more what I am looking for, but I want a recommendation.
Not looking for warmth, just dry and being able to FEEL is very important to me.
My poor paws are getting raw. Help! It will rain for at least another month here...
You can tryt a pair of FISHERMAN GLOVES, they come intwo types that I've used fishing, One type the fingers come out of the gloves at the end, the other type the fingers are completly covered.
WalMart sells them and they are relativly cheap.
One a more positive note, I love tracking in the rain, have only done so few times. Pup doesn't care one way or the other.
We usually have to track with the ground holding water, this is challanging to say the least for a young pup. A few extra food drops helps in the water. My two tracking lines are soaking in a bucket of water now from tracking in the mud and water the other day. One of the many problems here in Loiusiana.
Deanna, I must be hooked on Tracking because I can't pass a field without thinking about using it to track.
The gloves that provide the most in the way of dryness and tactile sensation are latex surgical gloves. They are cheap, easy to acquire and disposable. There are different varieties; plain, powder free and hypo-allergetic. In warm climes, you might as well wear nothing on your hands because of the perspiration factor. Anything truly waterproof will provide the same obstacle. Look at a company called Gall's. They have an entire 300+ page catalog on line with several pages dedicated to gloves for different purposes.

I think those latex gloves will rip too easy holding on a line, I wear them a lot. For a stronger latex, go to your marine supply store and ask for fiberglassing gloves (they're usually green, and cheap too). Then there is the Playtex Living rubber dishwashing gloves found in your local grocery
Deanna, you have to trust me about using the Fishing Gloves. PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a pair, that's a deal you can't pass.
They do tend to be somewhat hot in the summer here in Louisiana.
Also using the latex under a pair of regular cotten work gloves is very good.
The fishing gloves don't allow moisture to escape.
These little bad boys ROCK, take it from someone that has to spend a GREAT DEAL OF TIME TRAINING IN THE DAMN RAIN.
They wick away moisture, your hand isn't pruned up and wet with sweat when you take them off. Kinda defeats the purpose if you bathe your hand in your own juices while keeping a little rain off.
I can't get the link to work, but you can find them here:
