Greg Naranjo Webboard User Reg: 05-24-2004 Posts: 74 Loc: Maryland & Miami, FL Offline	I'm getting ready to prelim my dog's hips but I'm a bit puzzled about some scores I see on the net such as the following: Ph .46 .54 OFA Excellent Ph .31 .37 OFA Good Ph .39 .39 OFA Fair Shouldn't there be a correlation between the two scores? Shouldn't a low penn hip score = a better OFA score? If OFA is that subjective, would it be accurate to say Penn hip would be the way to go?

David Allen Gomme Webboard User Reg: 04-24-2002 Posts: 63 Loc: Offline	I dont like OFA. every 6 months there is a new panel of vets and it is of thier opinion. Pennhip or ovc would be better. I have seen dogs that failed OFA and should have passed and I have seen dogs that passed that should have failed. OVC is the canadian version but it is done by one vet and he is a specialist. not a group of 3 vets. I know that I will get some heat from this but this has been a topic with many breeders for a long time. I do agree that all breeding dogs need some clearance. I would go with pennhip over OFA. I do have one Boxer with ofa and I have a gsd with ovc. Talk soon Dave
