Maybe someone knows the rule on this. I put a boettcher harness on my dog for tracking, but of course, being training, I attach the line to the fur saver so I can help my dog track correctly. If he wears the harness in trial must the line be attached to the harness, or can I attach it to the collar? I basically use the harness as a cue, although he can track without it as well. We're getting close to trialing and I don't want to suddenly change things right before, and I don't want to give up the little bit of control/ability to help by having to attach the line to the harness.
Yes, your line must be attached to the abdominal ring in the trial. And judges are sticklers that the belly band is NOT tight (some people cinch it up snugly as a "reminder" to the dog). If you're not really using the harness, get rid of it.
