Based on the amount of total b.s. that is flying all over the net about SAR in NYC, etc. my hunch (and I've not confirmed it yet) is that PETA may be a driving force behind it. I also suspect that they are hanging around the search site in NYC, planning to use this incident against all of us in the world of working dogs. PETA loves to create chaos, and the probability of causing problems in the search would not matter a bit to them.
I'm probably going to put a group together to start a *PETA Watch*, let me know (via private em, Thunder@DesertThunderK9.com) if anyone would like to get involved. (Ed, if this is a no no on the list, and you are here, I apologize).
It is confirmed. PETA is on site in NYC. Their stated agenda is to pressure officials into letting them have access to the apt buildings near the WTC in which there may be abandonded pets. And, if you are willing to believe that one . . .
We all know why they are there. Legitimate rescue orgs are on scene, along w/the AVMA emergency vet team. Be prepared for PETA to really use this one.
These people are disgraceful. They are also cowards. They use tragedies like this to push their agenda. We know what they are really doing there. They don't have the guts to admit it YET. The backlash from the victims families would be too intense for them so the go in under the disguise of "rescuing the abandoned pets stranded in buildings." Why don't they make themselves useful and assist in the rescue/recovery of human beings. Low life scum they are, simple as that.
Karmen,
Not confirmed to my standards, yet tho I'm getting it from credible sources *and* CNN/MSNBC apparently reporting it. I saw it on CNN myself, but that doesn't make it so.
I *do* try really hard to make sure I've got facts before I post things, my personal pet peeve is spreading non-truth.
I'll keep digging and post when I am certain this really happened. It's supposed to be a Coast Guard K9, geez.
