On March 6th, 2002 I released my latest training video with Bernhard Flinks titled Training the Motivational Retrieve As far as I am concerned the information in this video is revolutionary. It's going to change the way people approach the retierve exercsie. You can read more about it on my web site. The tape is 1 hr 40 minutes long and costs $50.00 plus S&H.
For many years dog trainers have been told (by people like myself) that the only way to get a consistent retrieve in a competition dog was to use a forced retrieve. Bernhard Flinks has shown us that we were wrong. My new video outlines Bernhard Flinks motivational retrieve training methods. The infomration is exciting and will have a profound effect on how Americans train their sport dogs.
When dogs have been force retrieved, it is not unusual to see the dogs temperament change in a competition before: during: and after the retrieve exercises. These changes cost competitors points. Motivational retrieve training eliminates these concerns.
Bernhard has a saying, its called LETS MAKE A DEAL WITH THE DOG. The deal goes something like this:
If you retrieve my Dumb Bell (DB) I will allow you to play with my toy.
This sounds pretty simple – go get the DB and I will give you a ball. In fact it sounds a lot like the old two ball game. The truth is - that it is not as simple as that. Bernhard has put a lot of thought into the training steps for the motivational retrieve This video does an excellent job of teaching people how to master this training.
There is more than one way to train the motivational retrieve. Bernhard covers two methods in this video. He expplains (in detail) why one method should be used over the other with different types of dogs.
On July 23-2003 I finished the editing of the next Bewrnhard Flinks video - heep://leerburg.com/310.htm Preparing Your Dovgb for the Helper - the foundation of Grip Training
The DVD (it's only available in DVD) is 4 hours long. You can read a detailed outline for the video on the web page for it. In my opinion this is a better training video than Drive Focus and Grip. Maybe I say this because it's twice as long as any traiing video I have ever done (the wonder of DVD's vs VHS tape)
We are currently encoding the video and getting the titling done for the DVD- this process takes about a week. I hope to be shipiing DVD's a week from Monday or Teusday.
