Hi,
I have a question about building prey drive in young puppies. My previous dogs were all seriously lacking in prey drive so this time I went out to find a puppy with lots of prey drive. I recently obtained a male pup who is now 9.5 wks old and will chase after anything that moves. He loves chasing the ball and playing tug with rags, my pant legs, my arms, shoes, etc. However, when I bring out a burlap rag he'll grab initially and play a little bit of tug with it, but after I release the rag the first time, he shows no interest in biting it again. If I move it around he will instead go after my pant legs or arms depending on which is closer.
I guess my question is should I continue building drive with material than the pup likes to bite, or should I keep pushing the burlap rag?
I'd appreciate any incite/suggestions

There is no reason to use burlap when training a 9 1/2 week old puppy. Stick with something that is soft on his mouth.
