Ok, have been doing great with the ball on a string, minus one problem. Dog has such good grip, pull string, end up with just the string in your hand.... ball still in dog's mouth. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I thought this was an issue with how the knot was tied, so I changed to a 5 mm polyproplene(sp) climbing line AND a 7 mm washer for extra security... Guess what... Still pulls the ball OFF the string with the washer and a double knot.
I find this particularly amazing since I can barely get the 5mm line through the hole.
I have noticed another club member using a sock and tying the ball inside the sock. Anyones thoughts on this? He mentioned it can make it difficult to put your socks on in the morning. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Depends on what kind of ball you have. But punch another hole in the bottom of the ball an inch away from the anchor hole. An awl works best. Then string your line down through the "top" and out the bottom, then back in the other hole. Then put it through the top again. Pull yourself enough slack to tie a figure eight knot in the end piece. Then you can put the line through the figure eight knot like on a choke chain. Tie an itty bitty knot to secure the line in the loop and BAM a dog proof ball and string.
By the way, a figure eight knot is impossible to pull out. Climbers use them.
Have you thought about proressing to a dummy or a larger tug? Attaching a line to this is easier than attaching to a ball, and if your dog is that strong it may be time to move on. Good luck
Thanks for the reply Darren. This happened in front of Herr Flinks and he assured me to stick to the ball. I do use the tugs on occassion, but he really likes the ball.
All I can say is that it is a great demonstration of the buggers grip <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Here is a picture of my ball to get a clearer picture. It is like someone here already explained and I tell you this is impossible to get loose or the dog was to bite the rope but this is a totally different story. I used to have the same problem where the knot get loose or even the knot going through the hole.
But with this it still didn´t happen and like said already a knot like this can´t get loose
That pic of the line of GSD's with the cat is one of the funniest things I have seen in years!
Great! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Ho you are talking about that picture on our site. I like it too and it is NO TRIC PHOTOGRAFIE, this picture is real it´s been published years ago in SV magazine I believe.
