Hey guys, I have a new pup coming next week and was wondering if this drive tape is something I should get now or wait a while. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
He who has never tasted soap has never bathed a dog
Well if you got the coin you can get it now and study it, but you won't be able to use it for a while.... there are pleanty of things to do in the mean time!

If the plan is bite training , I would start with the Bite Training Puppies tape. The drive tape would come in later when the dog has better concentration abilities.
In addition keep in mind that puppies don't look up for some time. Anything that you are going to use for building prey drive needs to be something soft, and easy to control on the ground, and will maintain the puppies interest. The small towel used on the tape worked well for me. Once my puppy finished teething we moved to a tug and ball. The one problem I still have with the Flink's method is that she still can't catch. Partially because she doesn't see well, and partially because she still doesn't have that good of a sense of where her body is.

Actually I would buy the Bernhard tape now. You can start your pups on the method right away. I have two friends one with a pup four months and one that is six months. They both are doing his method extremely well. The younger pup was started from the get go on this and it's amazing the concentration the pup has at this age. She can hold the ball in front of his nose and he'll never look away. The sixth month old only look a session to get the hang of it. I would start it now so your pup doesn't get into any bad habits that you'll have to change later on. This is if you want to do the Bernhard method.
