Since adding this web board to my site (I now have over 1100 members) I have only blocked 3 people from the board. These people argued for the sake of arguing and had nothing to offer new trainers. I doubt their mothers even liked them - I know for a fact their dogs all ran away from home.
The fact is I have owned GSD's for 40 years, bred 270 litters of working bloodline dogs, titled several dogs in Schutzhund and have been a police K-9 handler for 10 years with over 1000 narcotics searches. I know reasonable dog training and I have an open mind to new ideas in dog training. I consider this the beauty of my business.
But I also know bad dog training and will not tolerate stupidity on this board. There are a lot of new trainers who come here for advise. Stupid ideas (i.e like telling people not to use prey drive in protection work is bad information). I will warn people one time and then invite them to take their ideas someplace else.

Good gracious, Ed! I have certainly already asked stupid questions, without realizing it. Hope you will not fire me, I love the richness of the Webboard toooooooo much.
But one stupid remark please allow me: We have certainly a good proof that protection people like you are, without doubt must have a lot of prey drive. How else would it be possible for you to have continued dog training and teaching people for so many years?!

Christina,
There are no "stupid" questions. If you are honestly looking for help, you will get it from the awesome handlers and trainers we have here.
What Ed means, is people who pick fights over silly things, bad mouth or threaten other people on the board. Those people are given several warnings by the moderators before we finally ban them.
We try to keep the conversations light, and informative. We do disagree at times, but we are respectful at all times. Respect is not optional here..
Trust me when I say that we don't ban people for no reason
Enjoy your time here on the board, and I hope you learn lots
-Kelly

Hi Kelly!!! I really did not take this seriously. Seriously, yes, for certain cases. but I know myself that I am not such an horrible person. I was just joking and because I am very much in love with Ed - (don't misunderstand! don't give me away!) - I simply tried to take him by the nose.
I always trusted Leerburg, I have in between enough wonderful experience with it, and I always appreciated, when I recieved an honest answer. This is the only way to learn something. But stupid questions I certainly produced, because I'm always producing all sorts of questions around dogs. More I read, more I observe, more come up. But there will never be questions with impertinence only out of a lack of experience.
So sorry, if I left a wrong impression with my Mail, I took it all from the funny side and the happy side to have found Leerburg. Didn't you know I am a FAN???

I just don't want people to think that we ban people all the time It has to be pretty extreme before we will ban anyone...
I know you are a fan And a loyal customer
I just wanted to clarify that the members of this board are a great bunch, and they give all they can to help others with their dogs
It's all good

It is so true what you are saying about the great bunch of the webboard. I already recieved such a lot of help and infos from here.
By the way, it was without doubt very good, that you set right, what might have given a deterrent impression. I too do certainly not want, that people renounce to ask a question, because they think it could be stupid.
However - beware! - I somehow feel, that in my head there is already something going on again, probably next stupid question. Don't worry, I will run the risk and submit it!

Ed made the above post back in 2001.
Still something to follow.
Having came on here in 2002 I will say this forum could occasionally have a touch of the wild west were it not for fair but tough controls from the top.

David and Bob, however we look at it, this certainly is both a fun-board and a learning-board. What has priority? Without doubt fun as long as it is connected with learning about dogs. Sometimes it can happen that we differ a bit from the planned path. Sorry if I contributed to this. But frankly I don't regret. It was always fun here and I've always been learning.
Thanks to you all. You're great fellows! (What's the feminin of "fellow"? Sorry, not really a dog question. Don't need to answer.)
