Most retriever are known for there soft mouth (they hold the game not to do anymore damage) could you imagine a prey crazy herding breed bring back half a duck or the leg of a deer. If the animal flinched it would be torn to apart.
I hope you are not wanting to mount the head, it won't look that great with its nose torn off or bite marks around the throat. I just think there are better dogs for hunting the GSD (which I love, I mean like) or the Mal. If you just got to hunt with a dog, its easier to use a hunting breed. The Mal could do it, but you would have to teach it not to tear up the game. Its possible?

Good luck in your efforts.
Ok, goodogu, have you EVER hunted with a dog? EVER? Ok, now, Have you EVER been with a dog that has found a LARGE dead animal? Let me tell you, they approach with caution. Not full force trying to tear the animal apart. We are talking about TRACKING a wounded animals blood here. No one was talking about retreiving.
Mals, GSD's, and just about any other dog could do this with training. So far as mounting the head goes, you obviously don't know much about that arena either.
Once again Goodogu is talking out his backside. The purpose of this board is to pass on good training information and stimulate intelligent conversation on dog training - not to pass on bizarre opinions.
