I sold my female GSD pup she was nice a dog, I miss her. I sold her to a husband and wife, with no kids that lived in the same neighborhood. They said they had been watching her for months. I didn't know they wanted to buy her, I had showed them some of her OB, tracking begining and a little prey bite work. When they stopped by to visit.
Weeks latter they offered me a deal that I couldn't refuse, now I'm sad. I had convinced myself that she really didn't have the drive to re-attack after bitting the sleeve. She would look up and bark but she;d go back to the sleeve for a bite then look back at the decoy sorta like try to take it if you can. Thinking back at 15 months that was pretty good for a puppy. I'm not sure that I gave her a chance. The money sound real good, almost double what I paid, for her at 8 weeks. If you don't count my time, wait I might have goten shaft. They got a good deal/dog.
Now I know they got a good deal, and I feel pretty good about that but I miss her. I guess I'll have to find another GSD bitch. How can you guys sell your buddies time after time after time, don't cha miss em??? Now I'm the one watching in admiration from afar, when they walk her. I can see they are giving her more love then I could with three dogs. But she use to be my girl.
Don,
I can relate. I sold my young malinois about six months ago. I raised him from 7 wks up to 15 months. He had a good foundation in OB (I got his Bh), tracking and protection. It became apparent early on that he had high aggression/fight potential in protection. An opprtunity arose to sell him to a Sheriff's Deputy that had retired his GSD and was looking at Mals. At the time we were having a hard time finding a suitable dog for him, so I suggested my dog. I thought if he had a chance to be a working K9 vs a SchH dog, I'd give him that chance (as I am not in LE).
Now at 22 months he's a dual purpose (patrol/narc) dog certified through NAPWDA and has had a number of drug finds and a few apprehensions. I do miss him, but I'm proud of him, too. I see him occasionally, as I train some with the area K9 group. He's a dog with a job, and there's not much more I can hope for him than that.
