Today i was playing with 19 mo mali/dutch mix i got
recently. Being used to my showline gsd i (this is where i made mistake) teased with the ball little to long and did fast movement and dog slamed to my leg, huged it with front paws like 'whoa, slow down or il bite you'. No growling.
I stoped, told her 'fuj' imidiately, she came down and we procided normaly after that.
I don't think i have rank issue with this dog, she will aport, will hand over toy and so on.
Thing is she is not the bouncy tipe, more relaxed, watchfull - but if something moves she is there, more movement harder she comes. Comes in to very high gear instantly, and the change is whell; explosive. Not something i am used to. (my gsd is constantly on the go)
She is with me a week now, has not shown any signs of agression so far (i don't consider our little incident as agression).
Is this something 'normal' for the breed, stupid handler mistake (out of ignorance with handling high drive dogs), or what?
I get the same type of reaction out of working line GSD pups. Welcome to the world of dogs that can work, you'll find it's a lot different than those that just trot around a ring.
