Ben,
A dutch shepard is a brindle colored Malinois, The color was a major priority, so they could make their lines stand alone from a Malinois. They are the same dog basically. There are occasional Malinois litters that out of the blue throw a brindle or two, and those are then called dutch shepards, and the rest of the litter are Malinois.
Ben,
i don't know about purebred malinois or dutchies, as have been mostly in contact with mixes. I have seen some purebred malinois (showline) and those things look really fragile and small. And nervous.
Then again there is pure mal pup here (no papers, dutch lines) that is very strong boned. But who knows with that dutch lines. Right?
His owner tells me they mature quicker than dutch shepherds and their mixes.
I have dutch/mal(no papers ) mix and she really is not beginners dog. Being used to german shepherds i had to adjust to her big time.
Oh, yea, they too have the 'stupid bone'.
That dog really makes me laugh sometimes.
I have a Dutch Shepherd, my first, and I absolutely love her! She is as smart as my most intelliegent German Shepherd, agile beyond belief, a natural tracker, easy to train in obedience and great in protection. She is more sensitive than the other dogs and extremely devoted to me. Absolutely, she is a one person dog. She doesn't shed as much and being smaller she fits in the car and house much better!
I would suggest anyone considering a Mal, check out the DS. (and they are so cool looking!)
