well,
our training is coming along well. his obedience is great. his ball drive is very excellent. during our protection training we have "graduated" to a helper with the help of the tapes i have bought from ed. he just turned a year old, but for giants i hear this is still puppy stage? anyway, about 30% of the time he doesn't bite down hard enough so the helper can't pull the tug out of his mouth. he always goes in full, and loves to play when he does. he is definately not shy or nervous, always a calm full bite, just sometimes it will slip. any ideas on how to correct this, or will this get better over time?
thanks,
brandon
hi,
Sounds like a realy good dog there. A way to correct this is to slip it out of his mouth each time he dosen't bite down hard enough. This way he'll get fustrated every time, and he'll learn to keep a hard grip. Well enjoy, you have alot more growing to do, or should I say him , giants never stop growing
Maturing? Yes, wait for his second aniversary... They are always growing indeed, but don't expect him to get wiser and wiser or too serious with age. Expect him to play as a puppy even when he turns 10 .
Maturity signs are already there, but the dog is still changing until about 2 years of age. The Giant Schnauzers are known as 'teenagers' all life long. Their puppy-like style in playing, their tendancy to challenge and their high vitality balances with strong mature dedication.
You seem to have a wonderful dog, enjoy.
