Ok, so lets just say this person also beleived in eating people... you ok with that as well? After all we don't want to upset anyone, cannibals have rights too
Since when are dogs on the same level as people? Koreans and Chinese have been eating dogs since 2000 B.C. I stand by my post. That is the same kind of low tatic PETA would use. Do you sympithize with PETA?
Robert
No, I don't sympathize with PETA. I was not saying dogs and humans are on the same level. My point was that just because someone believes some whacked out crap that it doesn't make it right...
Anyway, I have a dog to train...
So far as other people don't have a right to push beliefs on you... I sentence you to 10 yrs in the bible belt...
I think the salient point is that as a citizen of the United States, one of the things you must give up (sob!) is your right to eat dogs. We don't do that here. It's our culture. If you want to eat dogs, you are free to do it in your own dog-eating nation.
Todd, I believe this dog was seized in the Cedar Rapids area--if you want I can PM you with further details.
Pete yes please!!! My training center is in Cedar Rapids. I have heard NOTHING about this. Which is amazing to me. I get calls all the time from rescues, humane societies, Dept of Health. This is a new one for me.
REALLY NOW!
I don't think that the statement that I made is short sighted. I know that in many countries people practice certain things that we might not understand. HOWEVER, they live in the U.S. and like others have stated they should not be eating dogs. This is not something we practice here.
If they want to eat dogs then they should have stayed where they can do so freely. Yes. I know that some cultures won't touch pork or beef and that's fine. We have established an understanding that pork and beef are edible meat and dogs aren't. That's it. I didn't mean to offend anybody by this. Just said it like I saw it that's all. I am not FORCING my views of different cultures on anybody. I am SHARING my views with the board.
To Todd Gaster (and any other interested parties):
Well, it was a new one for us too.
We've had, just in the past few months, two animal-control seizures for neglect and two dogs that had been systematically and deliberately starved. Stuff like that you almost get used to (although you never REALLY do ).
This is the first dog we've gotten that was slated to wind up on the dinner table. Hope it's the last, too.

VanCamp....that would of been a perfect time for a "BAM"!LOL
I agree. I really don't give a shit whether people in other cultures eat dogs. This is America. I really don't give a shit about political correct mumbo jumbo either. Quite frankly, It's F***ed up to eat dogs period whether your in America, Korea or on the moon. And to compare outrage over this to the antics of PETA is freakin' assinine. It is a terrible tragedy what happened to these dogs. Moral: get involved with rescue groups and increase awareness and education. I am closing this thread before it turns into an idiotic debate about being tolerant of other cultures chowing down on fido.
