The Franckenhorst kennel is in Holland. They are mostly show lines with a good deal of working dogs too. Bred for looks not working. Most go back to older working lines. It can be a nice out-cross sometimes. There is too much linebreeding on dogs that are really not workers. But they have produced good working dogs. But its not consistant. I would choose lines like Weyermuhle,Warringhof,Mooriche.
Name them!!!! Sorry that kennel is a show kennel. And whats your idea of patrol dogs? Franckenhorst dogs are bred for looks. Not to say some have earned working titles. Name the dogs you call tough active patrol dogs, I am curious.....
I have always considered Frankenhorst a show kennel too. The dog that always pops into my head when I hear that kennel name is Dexter...he was imported and used by Marienburg Kennels ( a US show kennel) and I used to see him advertised in Dog World and the Dobe quarterly or some such magazine.
I would be interested in hearing about patrol dogs coming from this kennel........what exactly does a 'rank patrol' dog do anyway???
Nope, Dexter vom Frankenhorst. May be before your time.
This was back in the 80's (I think)
I am a pack rat and keep everything but I am pretty sure last time I moved I tossed all the old magazines.
If you do a google search on Dexter vom Frankenhorst I believe you will find lots and LOTS of show dogs......he is in the pedigree of many Marienburg dogs.
