Let's see, the dogs owner said it was a Rott. The dog looked like a Rott (the head is fairly distintive), maybe it was a Rott?
Any dog that has head their ears cropped properly they will stand if they were properly cared for. It is a function of decreasing the weight of the ear leather and holding them in position until the cartilage is set. Why some one would want to do it I have no idea, but it could be done.
