My Rotti naws her rear end raw? I've checked and treated for fleas but there are none.
Neither dog has any fleas on them now. She had a bright shining black coat for a while now she has a plug nawed in it again. I treated all three with the Mosquitoes/flea and ticks oniment, now it seems to be drying out could this have been a mosquitoe bite?
And why didn't the 2 Gsd not have the same problem, is hair cover or a double coat helping the GSDs deal better with these parasites?
Is skin rashesh/irratations a problem for the Rottie like it is for the Dobermann??
One of my dogs did the same thing a while back. The vet recommended cleaning it with diluted Iodine then put Neosporine (or any antibiotic ointment) on it. I did that twice and the dog stopped gnawing there. Hasn't bothered him since! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Proud Mom of Abbey (aka "Moo") - my true soul mate...I miss you terribly and will see you at the bridge...
I used to have a Rottie that did the same thing. So, I put Listorene in a squirt bottle and sprayed the area......it healed the area, and the dog did not like the taste.......kind of like using bitter apple.
John I'll try that if she starts up again. I used the antibiotic oniment and Phryoxide treatment its healing well. This happen at least twice a year when its hot.
Thanks Kate, maybe I should try the dilute iodine, next time?
Thanks for your suggestion she is drying up quite nicely, I've spray her with the potions and she not bite herself anymore, it obviosuly keeps the icth away also.
