Does anybody have experience with the Land of Giants Pits. Are these dogs any good as Personal/Protection or Guarding? Are they prey driven or only defense?
Just my opinion but I think the pit was meant to be a smaller medium sized dog. I think this breeder has focused more on getting size out of their dog's than working ability. Now, I know someone is going to come on here and say how one of these dogs is titled in some protection sport, but again, this is just my opinion.
Gata..I have trained about 5 or 6 of them in personal protection. If your thinking of getting a pitbull, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I don't care what Kenny(breeder)or the papers say, They ARE NOT pitbulls. Pits were designed to be smaller compact dogs, not big drooling mastiff look alikes. In my opinion they were crossed with some sort of mastiff to achieve their size. I find them to be very nervy (bull mastiff?)and skittish. I have only seen one from his kennel that wouldn't fit this description, but he was extremely dangerous. I would try and stay away from all those breeders that advertise XXpits, stick with a breeder who breeds the way they were meant to be. I live in Massachusetts, so I get to see a lot of dogs from his kennel.
true pit bulls were bred to be very human friendly and stable. the dogs were not allowed to bite the handlers or referee in the ring during the fight, so a pit bull that shows human aggression is not true to the original design of the breed-kinda like a white 'german' shepherd.
