The furthest I've gotten is to think they are one in the same with Dutches. Is this correct? Is a Meckolar a breed? Supposedly they are used by the police in Europe?

It is what they are referred to in their "native land" the reason we use the word Malinois is because of a town (Malin I think).. Kinda like Rottweilers and Rottweil. Malinois is French (hence the silent "s") as Belgium and France are neighbors, and both compete in Ringsports with "Malinois".. anyway, that is the gist.. I probably got some minute detail wrong, but I am about to run out of my office to beat Isabell!!! -Matt
