Don't know about training methods in Hungary, cuz altho Frans has lived in Hungary for a few years now, his background is Dutch and his training methods are pretty similar to many Belgian and German styles. Robert, maybe different parts of the country tend to use dogs closest to their borders? Don't know, but he sees primarily German or Belgian (which often go back to German) backgrounds on the working dogs around him.

Dogs that I have seen in the clubs and on the team have been German working and Slovak lines (working ). Mostly German lines, with an increase in the Czech and Slovak lines. Robert is correct; behind 1-2 generations are the East German lines.
In the communist time, the military controlled the breeding programs.
Frans just moved there last year for business, but has been over there a lot as well.
What have you heard about the differences in Hungarian trainers/competitors? I live with one, so I would be curious <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> .

A lighter touch than who? That's not exactly what I saw. I saw people training with compulsion and rewarding as necessary. . .really no different than in most of Europe. Some were more heavy handed, some weren't.
