I am going to be moving to Augusta, GA this summer and would like to find a good schutzhund club to join. I was given the name of the Georgialina Schutzhund Training Group in Augusta, and I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on the club? http://georgialina.homestead.com/schutzhund.html
Also, could anyone reccommend any other clubs in the area? I'd be willing to drive an hour or two (possibly a little more) to get to the best one. Thanks!
I'm with David there. South Metro, although a long drive for you, is Wallace's club, and he's a serious trainer. The club has hosted major GSDCA/WDA trials and is due to hold the USA North American ( I believe ) in April. You'll get the best training that is available in the NE Georgia region ( I lived in the Greater Atlanta area for years, and then in Athens )
Palmetto State SchH club is in Columbia, SC and they are an active club.
Bill McClure runs the Georgia/Lina SchH club right in Augusta, although we didn't see many of their members trialing through out the years, so I'm not sure how active they are.
A fella name Mark Hammond trains in Grovetown, Georgia with mals, he might be close to you and he impressed many of us as a handler/ trainer.
There's also a club in the Athens area, PM me if you're thinking of visiting them so that I can warn you in private.
Matt Hammond is a member of the Georgia-Lina Schutzhund Club, and yes he is a great handler. I recently joined that group although I've been going for some time now. I am pretty new to formal Sch. training so I do not have alot to compare to, but I think our guys are pretty good. I believe we will be holding our own trial within the next year. I have heard very good things about Wallace's club also. Good luck with deciding.
It would be a long drive, but think about Chattahoochee SchH, they have 4 national level competitors/dogs in the club. Please send me a pm about other clubs in the area. Plus it would be kinda cool to have Kal's sister in the same club. Good luck with what you choose.
