Wouldn´t the GSD be a better breed when it comes to working if SCH wasn´t such an easy sport to title in? I mean, it takes a decent dog to compete on a high level, but to get thru a SCH3 routine is all to easy. If SCH was more demanding we wouldn´t have the split between the show and workinglines GSD, because then the showbreeders couldn´t use the SCH-title as a merit, they would be forced to breed dogs of a higher quality and they would have to spend a lot of more time and engagement to title their dogs.
In the uk its not that easy to put a schutzhund title on a dog - non of the show dogs have schutzhund titles aprt from maybe the odd one - unless they have been imported from germany etc. Sure the show kennels advertise there dogs to be able to work. But only the german imports that are used to breed have the schutzhund titles in their pedigree, the absolute vast majority of the uk show dogs do not and probably never will - Schutzhund is relative rare in Uk with working dogs when compared to other european countries, and seems to be quite elite - the show folk hardly even know what schutzhund is to a certain extent, the odd breeder is now realising the importance of the title and are sending their dogs to germany to get titled. because they dont know how to themselves - or there time is consumed by showing. But for the most part Show folk in the uk dont care about schutzhund - i guess for the ones that do, they think that becasue its in the pedigree the pups have working abilities.
I cant ever imagine that it will be passed here that every dog must have a schutzhund title to be able to breed especailly a schtzhund 3 title. Especailly a show dog.
Show people really are in there own world, theyre probably of the opinion that in order for dogs to breed they need show wins not schutzhund titles. To get them to conform to the idea that they now need to title their dogs before they breed, would, i think be impossible.
