I just wanted to ask everybody's and any working bloodline breeders opinions on this topic. How inportant to you the working bloodline ( Czech and German) dogs that you breed are stable and tolerant of children whether in the home or on the street?????
It's just i have heard of a working dog having to be locked way when children were near for fear of them being bitten and another either a police or schutzhund dog being put down after going for the neighbours 6 year old. I know these were just bad dogs, but again how important is it to breeders that they breed working dogs that are stable and can tell can tell a child is no threat if they were approached by one in a proper manner (assuming of course the dog has been socialised around children)?????
Temperment is one of the highest priorities I place on all breeding stock along with working ability. I have working lines and they get along with my kids just fine. As puppies, they can be too active sometimes but the adults know children whether mine or the neighborhood kids. I've had alot of children overcome their fear of dogs just by hanging around my house <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
