I wasn't at the Nationals this year, and so didn't have the pleasure of watching any of the teams work. I just wanted to say, lets not forget to give credit to the helpers who helped develop these dogs in the protection. I feel they are the 3rd party in the team...dog/handler/ helper.
That is a good point. While it is a team effort between the handler and the dog, you need a very experienced decoy to take a pup to Sch level protection work. These are far and few between.
Originally posted by Karmen Byrd: I did see Doug and his dog and I would say it was a super routine. Out of all the dogs I saw this weekend his was the one that stuck out in my mind the most. Artemis's hold and bark impressed me more than any other dog's there. Here's a video clip of Artemis's H&B, while training with Ivan. It's pretty old though; Artemis was only 18 months old at the time (1.8 MB file, MS Windows Media Player can play it). http://www.esc-registry.org/private/lodi/video/guarding5.asf
I need to upload a more recent clip, which better demonstrates his mature power.
Brad.. Alex did AWFUL! I have seen this dog 2 times.. and he did 99 points at the big trial in Europe 2 years ago... It looked like someone fried him out of the blind close to the trial.. and I built him up so big too... ah well..
