O'k ya'll I had neglected to mention that the $25 comes off the club dues if I joined . The reason I mentioned it was because no one said there was an evaluation fee till the evaluation was done,and that made my spidey sense tingle. Sorry for neglecting to mention that aspect.

I think that it is bad that someone new got a bad impression of what goes on in a club. From some of the posts his impression may have been wrong, but this is what was concieved by him.
I have a problem with club's charging fee's without telling people what is what. There is nothing wrong with charging for dog training (and it is nice that there will be a deduction from dues for it) but things like this should be laid out. Although not knowing the club or people, it sounds like there was just a ton going on there. Maybe you caught them at a bad time? It takes two to make a conversion.
As far as the judging goes, it is hard to say if it was fair without seeing what was what, but I have heard lots of rumours about visiting judges, and Cristmas points. I am not saying anyone's name in particular, but for those people that have been in the sport a few years knows about these type of things.

What do the others do while one person is training with the T.D. and helper? 7 hours seems like a long time to sit and watch others train while waiting for your turn. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I haven't made it to a schutzund club yet (I don't plan on getting a pup until next fall) so I don't know what goes on at these places yet!

D0on't base your opinion of the sport on one bad apple.
A month ago I had the opportunity to visit Bill Kullas club in Chicago. I can say that these folks could not have been nicer. If I lived within 2 hours of Chicago this is where I would train. The work was excellent and the people were friendly.
Jusdging will always be controvertial. If you are new to the sport - you need to study the rules and learn the difference between a CLUB TRIAL, a REGIONAL TRIAL and a NATIONAL EVENT. There is a difference and a club trial is not judged the same way as a national event. No one is harder on on questionable judging - just ask Mark Pabilski the USA head Judge - but the fact remains that the vast majority of Judges are good people who donate their personal time to help advance the sport.
I wrote an article on Schutzhund clubs on my web site - its in the list of training article. Clubs are like people - they have a personality. Find one that fits yours and you will be happy.
