Hmmm......well, I started off in SchH with Rott's back in the early 1980's and I originally sought out a DVG club due to their acceptance of all breeds. I have since been a member of USA and belonged to USA clubs if they were the only choice in my area, and I've even been a member of a GSDCA WDA club due to it's close location to my home.
That being said, I'm dropping my GSDCA membership when it expires - reading the GSD Review ( the GSDCA magazine ) makes me fear for the future of our breed.
And although what Kevin says makes *alot* of sense, I am still very sensitive to breed descrimination in any form.
Hence when we recently formed a new SchH club in Tallahassee, we chose DVG as our forming organization ( with Joe as our president! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> )

MTR, it shouldn't surprise you at all. DVG is the best place to go if your primary goal is Schutzhund or IPO. More so now as with all of the politics going on, and the direction that clubs have to be more of a breed club then a Schutzhund club. While I do not think there is anything wrong with the rescrictions placed on the Nationals, as USA is a breed club, the politics along with the foward movement of making clubs more the GSD, I think you will see DVG grow, as the other breeds and people that are not intrested in breeding are going to be pushed away. So I think this is a good thing for DVG in a way. I also do not think that in a way this a bad thing for USA. I think though that given the present climate that USA is in, it is a bit pre-mature to push people away, even if unintentional, but again I do not see why people are bent-up about it, if you are not invited why would you want to go anyway? If you still want to knock-heads with USA's best, then go to the North Americans where you need no qualifying score, and noone cares what you have at the end of your leash. Truthfully with all of the things that is going on with USA, GSDCA,SV, and the WUSV, USA has to make its stance that it is a total GSD club not just a Schutzhund organization. This could very well be the reason why they are risking the loss of membership.

Well, I can think of a great responsive quote from the famous comedian, Andrew Dice Clay, but I don't think I can write it here.

However, I do agree with your overall point. No big deal, if you want to bang heads with the top GSD teams there is the North American. I don't know about the AWDF thing, I have my doubt's about that event being around much longer. Even so the North American is a great event for the "alternate Breeds". You have your Championships name's mixed up. Unless it was a Rott in a GSD costume.

Breed discrimination???? Hell, if there were no discriminating among the animals we wouldn't have breeds, all we'd have is little non-dicript feral critters to play with. Discrimination is at the heart of the production of purebred dogs.
now be polite, no Malinois jokes about little feral creatures<vbg>
