One prominant breeder of the cattle dog mentioned at a clinic once that he doesn't mind a 'soft' dog to people as long as it was tough on stock.
That is how I would describe most cattle dogs that I have seen work. Many breeders are looking for this kind of a combination (and breeding it) as it makes it easier to train (for herding) but it is still tough enough on stock. The border collie is bred much the same way.
So, not sure I would even consider it as a breed for SchH work.

About 10 years ago one of my friends belonged to a sch. club in NE with Alise. Her "pickup truck dogs" were very tough and impressive to watch. The dog she was working then was names "Hooey".
I only met Alise a couple times, but if I was interested in an aucado for sch, I'd talk to her. At least she has some practical experience. I liked her, and she was good friends with some people I respect a lot. I googled for her an came up with a lot of links.

when I go in to change it to my full name it says that I cannot change it..the name is 'taken'????? It is the reason I have not posted for so long. Last time I tried to change it I was 'blocked' out...for some reason it let me in again today but only with my name and last initial.
Hey Will, Why do ya think I still got the long handle on the front of my name. I thought it was just my incompetence with this new fangled typewriter. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I am new to this board. I have ACDs that I compete in Schutzhund with. My male Poe has his SchH A (need to get on that tracking!) and is my pride and joy. We have done everything from competing in SchH, weight pull, water rescue among other dog sports. Here is a link to a photo page of him:
Someone mention Alise Dart and her ACDs. Unfortunately, Alise has seemed to gotten out of breeding ACDs. Some of her old guys sadly passed away within the last few months. Needless to say I was happy to see on this board that there were people who were open to the ACD breed :-)
