I am looking into buying a prong collar for my puppy, 5 months 1 week, and was wondering what size range i should get so i can use it now, and in the long run. he is a german shorthair mix iwth a rottwieler/chow, he is bulky like a rottwieler, but is longer like a shepard.
Right now his neck is 16 inches around, i was looking at a 19-25 or so prong, and was wondering if this wuold work?
Hi Joseph, Go ahead and get the larger size. They are designed for you to simply remove links to adjust it for a snug fit. See Ed's article: http://www.leerburg.com/fit-prong.htm
Wait for your dog to be quite a bit older before you use it though. He is to young for that strong of a correction.
Whoever will only draw conclusions from the eminence of his own particular point of view, will obtain a distorted picture.-v. Stephanitz
alright, thats what i figured i should do, i just didnt know how big of neck i was giong to be looking at later, and, i didnt plan on using it yet, just going to buy it now, let him get used to getting it put on, and then use it later if he needs it.
