Old, old book. Cripes, they still talk about NASA in the book, so that dates it to about 1978.
The book tho was one of my core training books back in the 1980's, when information regarding schutzhund training was a mite harder to get.
I think alot of new training theories have developed since the book came out, and I think we understand canine behavior and drives better also. But I still think the book should be on every SchH trainer/handler's book shelve.
Will Will Will - on a scale of one to ten - Dietmar was a 2. I have no idea if he is still in dogs but I will guarantee you that this guy was a bull shit artist and a dummy. Not someone to give the time of day to.
Hehehe...Ed, I didn't say I still followed that type of training advice! ( at least I *hope* I've improved my training methods since then )
But from a historical prespective I still think it's worth a reading. All the older books on SchH have advice/methods that virtually no trainer in the US uses now. Even Susan Barwick's book doesn't contain useful info for todays trainers. But her book is or was on most of our shelves at one time, I'd bet.
thanks guys - i appreciate the feedback - i'll spend my time with my dogs rather than squinting at the tiny print this book contains
