This sounds very similar to what Ed wrote about in his Groundwork article. No head halters or hand feeding but using the crate and using the leash...and no interaction with other dogs.
Ken, the point of the book is to become the "center of the universe" for your dog. As I said, Deb emailed me and basically recommends the book for people with "problem" dogs, as well as those interested in working dogs. Not every principle suggested in the book is applied. Basically you take what works for you in your situation and use it if you can. I still think for $14.95 it's a good read.
