I'm going to be purchasing a male GSD puppy from working lines, for personal protection work, in the Spring. I already have Ed's video entitled "Your Puppy 8 Weeks to 8 Months", as I have a 10 month old GSD female. I never intended to do protection work with her, so I didn't buy any of the bite training videos. There seem to be 3 bite training videos listed under the puppy video section. They are "Bite Training for Puppies", "Training Drive, Focus & Grip with Bernard Flinks" and "The First Steps of Bite Training." I'm wondering if anyone could suggest which video to get first. At the moment, I can't afford all three at once, but I'd like to get at least one of the videos before I even get the pup. If someone could also comment on the equipment that I should purchase, I'd appreciate it.

Stacie,
Get the "Training Drive, Focus & Grip with Bernhard Flinks" first.
That tape teaches you good foundation work for preparation in obedience or protection, and it's a nice way to train your dog.
Your pooch will be happy that you picked up the tape, really! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I clicked on the link for the training equipment that they recommend for the video. Do you happen to know why they suggest a numbered training vest? I happen to have a plain one, it's not numbered.

Stacie,
We wear numbered vests at high level SchH events, so it's a good place to hide your play item. The one that is sold by Ed has a sturdy clip already attached to it, plus a huge velcro pocket to hide the item in.
I own one, and some of my club members borrow it from time to time, especially during trial season.
