We have a three year old cairn terrier that we got from rescue about 6 months ago. We knew he had some problems but have over come quite a few. I have been obedience training him, using both food and a choke chain. He has the idea that I am the alpha dog, then him and then my husband. In the evening he is worse. We have been keeping him on his leash in the house or else in his crate. If he is on his leash attached to me then he becomes very aggresive towards my husband. If my husband has him on the leash he is okay. Also if he isn't on any leash he is aggresive towards my husband. It's hard to trust this fellow. He seems to think he must protect me. He can be a handful. He bite my husband once. He circled him and then jumped up and bite him on the leg. My husband wanted to put him down, I really like this fellow, I found this site, read the information on aggesive/dominante dogs. He's still here and we still are having some difficulties. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks Val
I have been obedience training him, using both food and a choke chain. He has the idea that I am the alpha dog Since you are the alpha and you don't want him to bite your husband, then teach this dog that it's not ok to bite your husband. Get rid of the choke chain, get a Prong Collar, and teach him that aggression is NOT ok.
