I never truely understood the difference between between Czech or DDR and American GSD's until today when I went a local Schutzhund club. I really thought the difference were minor. but when I sat my BYB GSD next to a Czech and a DDR the only thing they had in common were pointy ears and they liked hot dogs. IMHO they are two different breeds. The club president was very gracious and explained that everybody starts with the wrong dog in Schutzhund. I guess since my cur was well mannered and my check is good, I'll be able to join.
Dennis,
I went to your link and saw your white GSD.
I dislike calling my GSD a GSD because of the AmBreds out there. I don't think they should be classified as the same breed. My GSD IS a GSD, but the AmBreds are not. When people ask me what kind of dog I have, I never just say a German Shepherd. I always saw a German bred German Shepherd.
BUT, I think your GSD is very good looking. He's not rouch backed, very square and has a nice German Shepherd head and face. Atleast his body structure will hold him up till a gripe ol' age. You have a nice GSD.

It went beyond actual physical appearance. I'd bet money that my Max is the best trained dog within 10 square miles of me, not counting K9s. But these dogs exuded drive and confidence. It was like compairing NASCAR to go-carting.
Just got my "Raising a working Puppy" DVD <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> now I can start doing it right hooo yaaaa <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
