I agree with Jody and Will here. Not everyone knows what a working bloodline dog is. Not everyone’s goals is to compete in the nationals. I give a lot of people with show line dogs credit for at least trying sport work.
I dare say that most people who start in this sport did not start with a top working bloodline dog. Those that did were lucky. It's a serious mistake to drive people away from the sport like this club did. It reflects poorly on Schutzhund as a dog sport and this is too bad.
It is far better to give people a chance. See if they make an honest effort to train their dog. See if they can learn to do the foundation in bite-work themselves with their dog (i.e. my video PREPARING YORU DOG FOR THE HELPER http://leerburg.com/310.htm - this does not take up any helper time and very little club time) If they do this then they deserve to be treated with respect and helped.
The only show line people who do not deserve the time of day are those that mislead people into thinking that their dogs bloodlines will produce police service dogs, top sport dogs or serious tough personal protection dogs. Those people are no different than con artists in any other field of endeavor.
With this all said - this thread started with a sincere question and I do not think Lindsy deserved to sarcastic comments that followed. The thread is closed.
