But, if there are only 4 people that work there. . .are 4 people much different than a family or addition to the "pack"?
If the dog NEVER has access to anyone but those people, and the owner stops allowing the stalking behavior. . .and doesn't allow free roaming around. . .and the dog is deemed trustworthy around those 4 people. . .it COULD work. It also sounds like the dog needs a good hand more obedience work and manners work to do it.
I speak from some experience. For nearly 5 years my last dog, who was very much like Emma (or maybe Fetz), did come to my office with me.
I'm vigilant to the extreme with dogs, and the few employees that were there knew the dog rules. . .and there was absolutely zero access to strangers coming into the area where he was. He also wasn't left to roam free either, he stayed near me (usually on lead), or in my private office, or in a crate.
I just wouldn't want to say it can't be done. It can be done if you take every precaution and make sure there is zero access to people and you can control the situation.
None of those things seem to be happening now . . .so you guys may be right.
All I meant by a security system is it seems to be a safer alternative if security and protection is really the issue. I don't see what good a protection dog would do if he's in a crate or behind some barrier when one has a problem. I have to say I'm not at all opposed to anyone owning a protection dog and getting some measure of security from that, just the way this original post sounded along with other replies leads one to think this particular dog shouldn't be trusted with just anyone.

The barrier would seperate the public from the handler and well known workers, not the dog from the handler. You would also only crate the dog when you had to allow someone into the secure area. . .or put him on a lead. . .or whatever.
Use your head, you don't lock the dog up somewhere out of the area. You create a work area where the dog can stay, but has no access to the public. A perfect example is the couple that had the dog in the gas station, thats why I included it.
