Yes, clicker training works. IMO there is nothing better for teaching a behaviour. I've been "clicking" for almost 6 years now. I teach puppy classes with the clicker, and sometimes the dogs start out being non-responsive, but with a little work they come around and then learn FAST. But most dogs/pups pick it up immediately. With a good clicker trainer that is...for new people it can take longer. I almost gave up on the clicker with the first dog I used it on. But the problem was with me, not the method! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Ok the word Down still means nothing to her, the close hand gesture gets a eutheastic down, but she digging in my hand for grub.
Now her stay with a hand in her face before eating thats pretty good, she use to try to duck up under the hand, but now she stays in place until the command to eat. So she is a smart little girl, but she is so active that its hard for her to down on her own without a treat.
Motivational training is slooow, I hope I reap some benifit from it besides helping my heart by taking asprin for my headache she giving me.
