I am a member of the Orange County Schutzhund Club - our trainer moved out of state, we still have a great helper, but helpers are not necessarily trainers. The club trains together only one day per week now and I am looking for an additional day (possibly two) for myself.
I have a great young dog, from SchH III parents, and don't want her to go to waste. I am looking for private (or SMALL group) coaching/training situation. I am in northern Orange County, the best trainers (that I am aware of) are either in San Diego (too far) or train in unsafe areas of Los Angeles (too scary).
I have been in the sport for six years (three titled dogs) so I will be a serious (and regular) client for the right trainer. I can provide the training field, blinds, jumps, etc if needed.
Beside the Orange County club, I just counted 15 other clubs in So. Cal. on line. I drive 140 mi. one way twice a week. I wish I had your problem.

I can only assume that you are not familar with the geography and/or traffic patterns of SoCal. Of the clubs listed, all but five are between 4 and 6 hour drive times (one way) from me. I HAVE been driving to train with Mike Stone in Escondido on Thursday nights (1.5 hours one way).
Of the other, closer clubs that I have contacted, they are either "full up" on their training nights. Or, were not interested in having me train with them because I don't have the "right kind of dog" (not a GSD, Rott or Mal).
I still have 2 clubs left to contact, we'll see ... be careful what you wish for ...
Actually I was born and raised in So. Calif. Thats the first Ive heard of a club turning someone away. Although I know some are GSD only.
I now live on the central coast (Pismo Beach) and I drive to San Diego in 4 1/2 hours. But
If you dont find some one go on line to The ring sports Mondoring, French ring, etc. Ive meet some realy nice people in the L.A. area That do ring as well as SchH. and there very good trainers.
Good luck
Ron
I guess I must drive too slow <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> . I find that it can take three hours to get to the Ventura or Palmdale area on a weekday after work - clubs in those areas get started around 7PM. Escondido (north of San Diego on the 15 fwy) takes 1.5 on a good day. Traffic is horrible!
I'm not involved with Ring sports, although I have friends who are - the kind of training/helper work they do is not appropriate for a SchH dog. No disrespect to Ring, it's a great sport and I enjoy watching the trials, it's just VERY different from SchH.
