Jeeeze! VanCamp is 27. My grandfather wasn't as crabby as him and he use to beat me with a cane. If I had a onry little puppy, as crabby as that oneery little puppy, I think I would have the ultimate PPD, Sh111,badass dog on the planet
On the plus side, for such a young pup, he's got a lot between the ears, if your willing to get bit trying to pick his brain.
Im going to bed. That's to much to think about for one nite.
I have some family and close friends who are all interested in breeding, but none of us presently has the time to breed more than about one litter a year.(we all have other work and family) This way we pool our resources (time, money, females, studs, kennels, etc) to do what a larger breeder can do. We keep the best prospects and divide them amoung us diplomatically (we just take turns with picks). Each member will get a top pick every year plus a few others to add to their lines.
We are going to do this for three years as a test. There are seven of us, so it will be about seven litters a year. Keeping back around 14 or so dogs a year to be started in training to see what we get. We may sell the started dogs at around 12 months or so, or even later, just depends.
We are not selling any pups, giving away the ones that we don't choose to keep as pets. Members may sell dogs that they breed on their own time, but not for their designated association litter.
It's just an idea that I had. It will be interesting if it works.
That's quite a coincidence. I was thinking of this exact same thing a couple days ago, and wondering if it's ever been done and with what degree of success. I thought I was so damn original! Not that I actually had any intention of starting or participating in one any time soon.
I'm very intrigued by this. Keep us (well, me at least) updated, if you'd be so kind.
Good Luck Vancamp. Speaking from experience family can be a pain to deal with. They just may stab you in the back.
By the way everyone, I put my birth date (Oct. 31) down on my bio so you know when to send me gifts When the date gets closer, I'll be sure to give a reminder and my address LOL
This thread has been really interesting but it's now up to almost 5 pages so I am closing it.
It has been nice to get to know a little more about all of you (well, most of you anyway!!) <kidding>
