I was reading the posts that I missed recently and I saw that the board just celebrated a birthday So I just wanted to say how great I think this board is and how grateful I am to every one!!!I think that this is an absolutely addictive place and I have been learning so much from everyone!!
Richard, I noticed that you said that you are in Nuc Med.Are you a tech?I do x-ray, Mammo, Bone Densitometry etc.(ARRT Reg. tech for 9 yrs now).
Ted, I was looking at your web site ( your dogs seem to be awesome!!!) and I was wondering if you could tell me what the Bio-sensor Super Puppy method is??????Also, how do you test your puppies for selection.
(P.S.-I missed the bio thread, soI'll just throw my stats in here quick:
Location:Hudson Valley region of N.Y.
Age:37
Status:Married w/4 daughters(ages 16,7,5,8mos.)
Occupation:Radiologic Technologist
Dogs:Bella,2yo GSD...Nero 7mo GSD ....Mookie 13 yo lab/collie x
Experience:former dog groomer, vet clinic assist, ride horses(western mostly)for past 27 yrs, lots of dogs in my lifetime -pets only.
I hope to learn as much as I can now and (I will probably realistically have to wait until my kids are a little older,) then I want to pursue Sch or PP.
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!! |

Happy birthday board!
It's been about a year that I found Ed's site. I think I've read it all now. It's only been a short time since I registerd here and I'm am constantly amaized at the VAST amount of knowledge offered by truly great dog minds. One of the great things about this board, is the willingness to agree to disagree(and the humor that can go along with it sometimes). If things do get out of hand,a simple tap on the shoulder by some excellent moderators, and everything is cool again. Keep up the good work EVERYONE!

Oldearthdog, Yes you are correct. I am always researching and finding new information about the hobbies I like. I really lucked out when I found this site. Although I currently don't have a protection breed of dog, a lot of the behaviour/psychology information posted here can be applied to many if not all breeds of dogs. I have learned a lot, some of which I have used to analyze my current dog and myself to determine how I could have done some things different with him than I initially did.
For my next pup I will definately implement, from an early age, some of the things I have learned here.
What I also appreciate is the fact that although some of us do not have GSDs (yet!), or working dogs, or participate in working dog sports, we are not made to feel unwelcome when we post.
Even the "differences of opinion" are fun to watch. We can all learn from one another, as well as respect each other even if we don't always agree.
I have said it before and I will say it again.....It truly is a wonderful board!

This is, indeed, a very good forum. By far the best dog board on the web, that I am aware of. Like any board, there are some who take themselves way too seriously, and at times it seems that there is a small, exclusive circle that tends to dominate. But, that is the nature of internet forums, and despite those things, this remains on the top of my list of valuable resources. Thank you to all who contribute! Without you, this forum wouldn't be what it is.

Exclusive circle that tends to dominate? Never known you to be at a loss for words.
Hmmmmm.......with 650 posts(I count only 4 members with more) I'd say you would have to possibly be considered in the "exclusive circle".

Yes, thanks to ED most of all, for providing this forum. I'm sure that there have been times where he has wondered if it is even worth it, of felt that it was too much trouble. But, it really is a good forum, the best on the web; and thank you for keeping it going!
Oh, and Chuck, I'm still working toward 1,000. VanCamp hasn't been on this board as long as me, and he beat me to it last month!
