My rottie bitch is 4 mths. old. Her new teeth are starting to come in and her gums are not darkening. Now I`m being told that if the gums were pink at 8 wks. they will not darken much. Is this statement true? Is pigment set early, or does it darken as the pup matures?
Pigment is a funny thing. I've heard a lot of people say with their bitches that it goes light when they are in heat and it may be related to stress. You mention your bitch was teething which is stressful and may be causing the lighter pigment. Some go light that were always dark and never recover their dark mouths. I'm not sure about the light mouths going darker and I'm not sure if its ever been proven that there is a connection between pigment and stress affecting it but thats what I've heard <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
